What is the field work like: is there a lot of travelling, do you work at height?
There is driving and there is climbing, yes. Field jobs spend a good part of their time at clients' installations, and somebody has to put that camera up at eight metres: there is work at height, on roofs, on columns and with access platforms, and going into places like water treatment plants or tunnels depending on the project.
The travelling depends on where the installation is. Some trips are there and back in a day and some mean staying away, and that is known in advance except with a fault. How it is organised and what it pays is talked about at the interview and goes in the contract, not on a website.
None of that is done without the health and safety training each job requires. It is not a formality: the safety of the people installing sits inside ISO 45001, which requires records to exist and workers to take part, and somebody from outside checks it.
