What does a field technician do day to day?
Installing, commissioning and leaving it working. You drive to the client's site —industrial units, offices, stations, building sites—, fit what is on for that day, test it and leave it documented. There are days of pulling cable and days of sorting out something that was not planned for, and both are the job.
The part you do not see from outside is that the result is judged by how it looks when nobody is watching. A tidy cabinet and labels in place are not seen by the client: they are seen by the colleague who comes back in three years. That counts here.
And you work with what there is: cold on a site in January, heat on a roof in August. Part of this is done outdoors and there is no pretty way of putting it.
