Can I change maintenance company if the system is closed?

Almost always yes, and what blocks it is usually not the technology: it is the installer code, the programming passwords, the proprietary software and the account opened at the alarm receiving centre in the maintenance company's name and not the client's.

What you have to demand, and you are within your rights because the installation is yours: the installer code or a documented reset of it, the project and the drawings, the list of zones and detectors with their real locations, the account details and the receiving centre protocol, and the passwords for the radio devices. Without that, a new maintenance company can test the system but cannot change it, and any extension forces you back to the previous one.

What you can do to avoid getting there is write it down on day one: that the contract says the passwords belong to the client and are handed over with the documentation. We do not keep anybody's passwords, and it is not generosity — it is that there is a fair amount of installed kit out there held hostage by a password nobody would hand over, and that is the reason a lot of people end up looking for another supplier. If what is in place cannot be recovered, we say before quoting which part has to be replaced and why.

See it working.

A written answer is enough to decide whether it interests you. To know whether it works at your site you have to see it on a real scene, with the image as it is and, on top of it, what the system understands from it. That is on the IRIS Neural website, which is the group's product.
