What gets looked at before taking on somebody else's installation?
What is really fitted and in what state; whether documentation exists —drawings, schematics, addressing plan, licences—; whether the administrator passwords are there; whether the equipment still has support and spares; what each camera sees today compared with what it should see; whether the recording really covers the days it says; and what state the network, the backup power and the cabinet are in.
All of that with the system running and pulling real recordings, not by reading the configuration. The configuration says what somebody set; the recording says what is there.
Three lists come out of the report: what has to be put right before we can sign, what can wait until the first year and what has to be planned over several years. That third list is the one the client has almost never been given.
