What is video verification and why does it change things so much?
That the alert arrives with the few seconds of image of whatever set it off, so that whoever decides looks before deciding instead of sending somebody out blind or sending nobody and hoping.
It changes two things at once. Inside, it turns the alerts that keep coming in into ten-second dismissals instead of call-outs, which is what stops the people on duty giving up on looking. And outside, it turns a bare alert into a verified alert, which is the one the alarm receiving centre can pass on to law enforcement describing what is happening. The response you get back is not the same.
It has its small print and it is worth checking: the associated cameras have to see the point that triggers and not the corridor next door, they have to see at night with their own lighting, and the sending has to be tested end to end with the alarm receiving centre, not just configured in the panel. This is almost always what makes an intruder detection system still be in use the following year.
