What is the keyholding response service?
A security guard travelling to the site to check what has happened when the alarm goes off, instead of the company's manager going in their pyjamas or nobody going at all.
It is a separately contracted service and a security company provides it. Its value is twofold: if there is something, they are the ones who can call for intervention knowing what they are talking about and describe what they are seeing; and if there is nothing, they close the alert, leave the premises secure and stop the system being left disarmed until Monday, which is what usually happens when an employee does the check at four in the morning.
What has to be agreed beforehand: who holds the keys, what the guard can do on arrival —go in or only inspect from outside—, what drawing of the installation they have and what they do if they find the door forced. Without that written agreement, the response call becomes just one more phone call.
