What are partitions and part-setting?
Dividing the installation into independent areas, each with its own setting, its own schedule and its own people, so that one part can be protected while work goes on in another.
It is the decision that most determines whether the system will be used. An industrial unit under building work, a warehouse that moves at night and an empty office cannot be in the same zone, because then none of them can be set without setting all three — and what happens in practice is that nothing gets set. Badly divided, the system ends up left unset for convenience, which is how most of the ones we find switched off ended up that way.
Part-setting is the small version of the same thing: setting the skin of the building —doors, windows, perimeter curtains— and leaving the inside free. It is what lets you have the alarm on while there are people inside, which is most of the hours of the year.
