Seismic detector or glass break detector?
They are different things. The seismic one detects an attack on a solid surface —drill, angle grinder, blow, cut— and is screwed to that surface. The glass-break one listens for the characteristic sound of glass breaking and goes on the ceiling or the wall, facing the glass.
The seismic one goes where there is something attacked from outside: a safe, a strongroom, a cash machine, the wall of a cash handling room, the roof of a warehouse, a party wall. It needs to be screwed firmly to solid mass and it needs to be calibrated in place, not in the workshop: badly adjusted, a lorry going down the street is an alarm; too deaf, it does not see a drill.
The acoustic one has limits of its own. It needs to see the glass, so a heavy curtain or shelving in front blocks it. It struggles with some laminated or safety glass, which does not break with the same sound. And there are metallic noises that sound quite like it. Where the glass really matters, criteria are combined, and where possible a curtain detector is added inside to warn that somebody has already got through.
