Are the administrator passwords mine?
Yes, and in your name from the day of handover. The administrator credentials for every device and every program, the licences, the contracts with manufacturers or services and the remote access are handed over documented and with the client as the holder. It looks obvious and it is the place where most people end up trapped with their supplier without having decided to be.
We keep an account of our own for providing the service, with its name and its trail in the system log, and the client can remove it whenever they want. That is the difference between having access and having control: control is being able to shut the door on us without calling anybody.
And passwords are not handed over in an email. They are handed over in the report, they are changed at handover and there is a record of who holds them. A system where nobody knows how many people know the administrator password has no access control, whatever readers it has.
