Cannot that be fixed by turning the sensitivity down?
No. Turning the sensitivity down turns a noisy alarm into a deaf one: the problem goes from being visible to invisible and stays exactly where it was.
What you have to do is find out what is setting that zone off, and for that you need the data, not a hunch: what time it goes off, which detector exactly, how many times, whether it coincides with the heating starting up, with dusk, with the cleaners arriving or with the westerly wind. Two weeks of history usually points to the cause without any guessing.
After that, the fix goes where the cause is: move the detector, change the lens, mask off a sector of the microwave, change technology at that point, require confirmation between two zones, or simply take away whatever is moving. If the fix costs a visit that cannot be invoiced, it gets done anyway: a zone with the sensitivity turned down is a zone that no longer protects, and it still appears on the drawing as if it did.
