Which type of RAID suits video?
It depends on how many drives there are and on how much can be lost. With few drives, a scheme that survives one failing is usually enough. With many, one that survives two is better, because the real risk is not one drive failing: it is the second failing while the first is being rebuilt.
Redundancy is paid for in capacity, and that has to be counted at purchase, not discovered when formatting. A set of drives always offers less space than its drive labels add up to.
And there is an earlier decision that gets little thought: splitting into several medium-sized sets instead of building one huge one. Rebuilding a very large set takes far longer, punishes all its drives at once and leaves the installation without a safety net for longer.
