Is there any point prioritising video on the network?
It is for choosing who gets left out when it does not all fit, not for creating capacity. It is a distinction that gets forgotten a lot: if the network is short, priority only decides what gets sacrificed.
That said, it is very useful where the path is narrow by nature: an internet connection, a radio link, a link between sites. There it stops the overnight backup or a download from wiping out the camera traffic.
The condition is that it is marked end to end. If one leg of the path does not respect the priority, the queue forms there and everything else is beside the point. And inside a properly sized network you hardly notice it is there, which is exactly the sign that it is right.
