Questions · Cameras

Can I put cameras where my employees work?

Yes, to check that they are meeting their employment obligations and for safety, but with conditions. Article 89 of Organic Law 3/2018 requires you to inform the workers and their representatives beforehand and explicitly, and it prohibits fitting cameras in changing rooms, toilets, canteens and rest areas, without exception and even if notice is given.

Recording sound is far more restricted than recording images: it is only allowed where there are significant risks that justify it and where proportionality is respected, so in the vast majority of places the audio is left switched off. And hidden cameras are an exceptional case that the law itself limits, not a management tool.

What causes most trouble is not the camera, it is the use. A system built for security and used to check performance or timekeeping changes the declared purpose, and that has to be notified. It is the point where it is most worth having it reviewed by whoever handles employment matters and data protection, because on top of the general rule there is whatever the collective agreement says.

See it working.

A written answer is enough to decide whether it interests you. To know whether it works at your site you have to see it on a real scene, with the image as it is and, on top of it, what the system understands from it. That is on the IRIS Neural website, which is the group's product.
