What are the acceptance tests and what exactly is tested?
They are the written list of checks that have to be passed for the installation to count as handed over, with the result that counts as correct for each one. It is not switching the system on and seeing that it works: it is going point by point. Each camera with its field of view and its reference scene, in the light conditions it has to serve in. Each reader and each door, including what happens when the power goes. Each fire detector, one at a time, checking that the panel identifies it where it really is and not where the label says.
And above all the complete sequences, which is where the faults turn up: that on firing, what has to sound sounds, what has to open opens, what has to close closes and what has to stop stops. That the alert leaves the building: who it reaches, in how long and what happens if nobody answers, tested with the phone in front of you.
Out of all that comes a dated certificate, the result for each point and the signature of whoever tested it. Not a summary saying «installation correct». If the handover was a signature on one sheet, not everything was tested.
