What documentation do you hand over with the project?
Five documents, and each one answers a different question. The report says what is being protected, from what, on what criteria and why each thing was chosen. The drawings say where each device goes, at what height and what it covers. The specification says how it has to be carried out and what counts as done properly. The measurements say how much there is of each thing. And the schematics say how everything is connected: cabinets, lines, power, network and addresses.
When the works finish, that is updated to what is really there and not to what was designed, because during the works something always moves. And to it are added the material list with make, model, serial number and location of each device; the test report point by point; the training in writing; the maintenance plan with dates; and the administration passwords in the client's name.
You should demand this of anyone, us included. What does not get handed over turns your installation into your supplier's installation.
