When is recording to the cloud worth it?
When there are few cameras, many sites and nobody inside who can maintain anything: shops, small offices, franchises, branches with no technical staff. There you gain in simplicity and in not having equipment that can be stolen or burnt.
For an industrial unit with many cameras the sums do not usually work, and it fails on the upload before it fails on the price. An example: eight cameras at two megabits per second is sixteen megabits going up all day, every day, without a pause. You have to look at the internet contract for the upload direction, which in almost every offer is the small one and the one that does not appear in the headline.
And there is an argument that is not technical and decides a fair amount: where the images are, who can look at them and what can be proved about that. In banking and in public administration that is not a preference.
