How often does fire detection have to be inspected?
Annex II of RIPCI sets four intervals: every three months, every six, every year and every five years. The three- and six-month ones are those in its table I and can be done by the staff of the owner of the installation or by the maintenance company. The one-year and five-year ones are those in table II and are done by an authorised maintenance company.
The quarterly and six-monthly work includes checking that the system works on each of its power supplies, replacing faulty indicator lamps and fuses, looking at the state of the batteries and cleaning. The annual work includes verifying the complete installation: the control panel and its accessories, the connections, the setting of voltages and currents, the alarm transmission equipment and the final test on each electrical supply source.
Above that there is what UNE 23007-14 asks for: that over twelve months every detector has been tested, not a sample. The sensible thing is to spread them across the year's visits, and the report has to make it possible to know which ones were tested on each visit.
