The dome bubble mists up on the inside. Is it broken?
It is usually not broken: damp air has got in and, as it cools, it condenses on the inside face of the dome. Almost always it is a sealing problem created on the day of installation, not a fault in the equipment, and that is why replacing the camera without changing anything else usually ends up the same a few months later.
The three usual causes are these. It was fitted on a damp day and that air was left inside. The gland or the cable entry did not close properly and the housing breathes through it. Or the cable comes in from above with no drip loop, and the water running down the sheath gets into the camera by capillary action, which is a little-known and very frequent cause.
The fix is to open it on a dry day, change the desiccant sachet and the seals, check the gland and leave a drip loop before the entry. If the device has a high protection rating —the number after the letters IP on the data sheet, defined in EN 60529— and it still condenses, what is failing is the installation, because that rating is certified with the housing correctly closed.
