What is recorded and how do I get out who went into a room on a particular day?

Every attempt is recorded with its credential, its door, its date and time and its result —granted, denied and the reason—, plus door openings, forced doors, the ones left open too long and the actions of the system administrators.

The proof that the log is any use is getting it out: who went into a particular room on a particular day, with names, in a minute and without ringing anybody outside. If you have to ask the installer for it, the log exists but cannot be used on the day it is needed, which tends to be a day when there is a hurry and somebody waiting for an answer.

And for that list to stand up in front of somebody outside, two more conditions are needed: that each credential is in a person's name and not a job title's, and that you know who granted each permission and when. «Card two hundred and fourteen went in» answers to nobody.

A written answer is enough to decide whether it interests you. To know whether it works at your site you have to see it on a real scene, with the image as it is and, on top of it, what the system understands from it. That is on the IRIS Neural website, which is the group's product.
