How do you coordinate with the company doing the fire suppression?
They cross at four specific points, and those are the ones to close off before starting. One: the signal from the flow switch or the pressure switch of the sprinkler installation reaches our control panel and is treated as an alarm, with its own text and its own zone. Two: the state of the valves and of the pump set —stopped, running, fault— is brought to the panel as well, so that a fault on the water side does not go unnoticed for months. Three: the electrical supply to the pump set and its supervision. And four: the interlocks, above all shutting down the air conditioning.
That is agreed in a meeting with the fire suppression installer and with whoever is running the site, and it is written into the cause and effect table. What cannot happen is that each one hands over their part separately and the first time they are tested together is the day of the inspection.
Who is responsible for what is worth writing down too. We sign off our part and demonstrate that the signal arrives and is read correctly; the hydraulic calculation, the pressure test and the certificate for the water installation are signed by whoever did it. Each signature covers its own, and that protects the client more than a single point of contact who cannot answer for half of it.
