How long does it take to withdraw access from somebody who leaves today?
It has to be the same day, and for it to be the same day the removal cannot depend on somebody remembering: either the HR system sends it, or there is a written procedure with a named person responsible and a deadline.
The check that shows it in a minute: ask for the list of active credentials and look for three names of people who no longer work there. If they show up, the system is installed but it is not governed, and changing platform does not fix that.
The case most often got wrong is a dismissal. It is prepared beforehand, carried out at the agreed time and it has to include everything: the card, the car park remote, the credentials for other sites and the administration accounts on the system itself if that person had them. It is the moment when you see whether there is a procedure or a habit.
