And contractors, who come and go all year?
The same as for your own staff but with a compulsory expiry date on every credential. No contractor credential is issued without an end date; if the contract carries on, it gets renewed.
That rule is what makes the system clean itself, which is the opposite of what happens when removal depends on somebody outside remembering to tell you. With an expiry date, the worst that happens is that somebody has to ask for a renewal; without one, the worst that happens is that a credential goes on opening doors two years after that person left the contractor.
And there is a part that goes in the specification, not in the system: who at the contractor is the point of contact, the named list of who is going to come, and the obligation to report when somebody leaves the contractor. The contractor has that information and the client does not, and if it is not written into the contract it never arrives. It is the number one cause of unknown names on a list of active credentials.
